Pretending I Did Not See a Body

A body under a bush today called my attention.
Strange feelings overwhelmed me, too many to mention.
I swiftly looked away pretending I had not seen it at all.
My husband seemed to drive faster away from the mall.

I am not a crime solver or detective so why me I thought.
My husband was shaky, he seemed a little distraught.
Did you see a body? He asked me....by that playground slide
What body? I asked. I quite easily lied.

Probably a mannequin he said dismissively with relief.
We did not turn on the news for days, thus escaped some grief.
The body was discovered by a group of teenagers the next night
They looked great on TV, so it turned out better and all right.
