Listen to poem:

Preflight Starlight

Preflight Starlight
David J Walker

After a nine-month countdown
The small light
Ignited into life
Blasting off like a rocket
Seemingly slow
Hanging low for a moment
In the sky
then gone
Where and how far it will go
Is reflected in the show of
Unperfected engineers
Potential, they say
Is in the Stars-light
Soaring on a course charted
In the DNA of preflight
