Precious Cargo
I felt nerves standing in my way, both nervous and excited at the same time
I started opening my mouth confirming a permanent visitor our home would welcome
A friend who would be carried as a precious cargo
I became speechless and breathless, overwhelmed with excitement
I could not even form words or express them
I expected this for a long time, but with everything that I have been through my expectations couldn’t have an expression of happiness
For I wished this cargo to be carried would be sudden
For I wished anything less than this cargo to be prepared for
In a life I have, seeing and experiencing growth is amazing
This is a dream come true!
I have had my failures as much as my successes, but one thing is certain, that love will be easy like a smile as patient and mild
That adjusting to 2am cries will be as natural as the lazy naps I take having to deal with late night feedings
This is excitement and nerves
Something that will make me hesitant yet bold
With this precious cargo, Daddy and I are going to be a family and will have our baby to hold
