Prayers

The rain pours down on my heart
Drenched in sorrow, where I part
With many things I must let go
Praying the rain will cleanse me so
I must reach all that I need to
With time, I have left to go through
Prayers under the skies, that are now gray
But, sunshine always returns, I say
Just another moment I must go through
Moments change with facts in place
I dream of many things, including your face
Fighting the fears that want to grab me
Shake me fiercely into places I don't want to be
It's foggy now and difficult to see outside
I'm inside where it's warm and I hide
Sending thoughts to loved ones, by the minute
Facing bold truth, with mind and soul where I sit

Hi Mike. Yes, especially when there are things we don't want to let go, but beyond a choice. I appreciate your comment. Happy Friday! :)

Sometimes we have no choice but to endure the rain that keeps us isolated. As you say, sunshine does seem to catch up with us, but that thought doesn't always help when we are in the depths of despair. A meaningful and heart-wrenching poem, Heidi. Hope you are blessed with sunshine over the holidays. Best wishes, Carolyn
