Powerless
I believed I was a strong man,
With courage and power.
I proudly stood amongst my peers
Like a mighty tower.
I faced my kingdom's enemies,
As champions must do.
I risked the only life I have
For what I thought was true.
I fought my wars, and cheated death,
I overcame my fears.
The scars the reaper left on me
Are my life's souvenirs.
I never once felt powerless,
That's how it was back then.
However dire the circumstance,
I found a way to win.
But then you sailed into my life,
Just like a summer breeze.
Your gentle beauty stole my heart,
And brought me to my knees.
And from the knee I begged your hand,
And you became my wife.
Then we started a family,
And built a happy life.
At times I miss the man I was,
The power and success.
You turned my heart of stone to glass,
And left me powerless.
But I would rather lose my might,
As long as you're my bride,
Than be the kingdom's greatest knight,
Without you by my side.
I gave up sword and armor too,
For what I now possess.
When faced with love's eternal grace,
I'm rendered powerless.
