Power Owl Waits
They all had power animals, given to them by their Girl Scout leader.
Shawna politely declined one, in a kind way.
She did not do this in rudeness,
but her wolf would have been hurt.
He had been with her for her entire life.
Okay, the Girl Scout leader said. “I understand.”
Shawna felt pretty sure that she did not, but she kept quiet.
That night wolf came to her and said “might have been a mistake”.
I care not, she replied. Nothing is going to diffuse this relationship.
He had been her forever power animal.
He was more than enough.
Her power owl watched this interchange.
Less hopeful than ever now, to be included.
Worse the Girl Scout leader was going to give her the owl.
