Red, White and Blue are the colors of the U.S.A. At the end of May, America celebrates Memorial Day, with Patriotic music. This poem is meant to capture the immemorial instead of the memorial. Immemorial defined is “extending or existing since beyond the reach of memory, record, or tradition.” In other words, the positive promise of wedded bliss that pushes past the honeymooner's existence.

Potency of a May Marriage

Moistened with red, white and blue, May showers.
Patriotism hitched with joyful tin cans.
Waves, like salutes, admire sailors’ flowers.
Plucky roses set sail with nuptial plans.
Warmed, as if Cezanne’s tulips upon cheeks.
They’re at the peak of a Spring storm’s blessing.
Entwined, as if on a trellis, love speaks.
Potent, tender-hearted, two souls pressing.
The impact, of each raindrop on the glass,
Harbors the couple’s immemorial brass.
