Postures of Prayer
When prostrate down before Thee,
Laid low in earnest prayer;
Thy hand doth there attend me,
And you assure me; “I am there.”
When reaching up to Thee,
Hands high in fervent prayer;
Thy gaze doth overwhelm me,
And your Light says: “I am there.”
When still, eyes closed before Thee,
Heart hushed in reverent prayer;
Thy Spirit doth transport me,
And your love says: “I am there.”
When walking daily with Thee,
Steps set in whispered prayer;
Thy ear doth there receive me,
And your Word says: “I am there.”
When sitting silent with Thee,
Thoughts turn to answered prayer;
Thy lovingkindness covers me,
And your touch says: “I am there.”
When sick and low before Thee,
Words weighted down in prayer;
Thy mercy doth restore me,
And your grace says: “I am there.”
When in death, I’m laid before Thee,
In a blink, I’ll rise in prayer;
Thy faithfulness hath held me,
And finally home, I will be there.
