L Milton Hankins Poet Rhyme

Political Rhetoric

Words can have so many meanings
It pays to carefully choose what you say,
Lack of phrasing can reveal your leanings
Ill-chosen words will often make you pay.
Politicians quickly learn how to double-talk
Meaning exactly what they did not say,
Like a sidewalk drawing with colored chalk
Knowing a weepy denial will wash it away.

I said "this noise level is stupid!" and the first graders almost crucified me. But, as for me, I would love to have some of them answered. At least make politicians answerable for their promises. I still do believe there are some honest politicians out there!
