Polished Poet

POLISHED POET

I like a polished poet
who is a clear orator.
Poems with rhyme and meter
and perhaps some metaphor.

I like a polished poet
who will project the voice,
so each word can be heard,
not mumbling words of choice.

I like a polished poet
who speaks it from the heart,
maybe from an experience
which makes poetry an art.

I like a polished poet
with simple words flowing free,
so I don't need a dictionary
to decipher it for me.

I like a polished poet
whose poems can entertain,
these are the type of poems
I would gladly hear again.
