Polar Opposites

Today I see in so many polar opposites
I find a piece to the puzzle but not where it fits
I feel so much joy yet see so much sorrow
It gets harder to see the promise of tomorrow.

I feel up yet I see I'm sliding down
I want to smile instead I dawn a frown
The bustle of the world but I can't hear a sound
My heart feels like flying yet I'm standing on the ground.

I know I can see but no vision is in sight
Although it is daylight I head into night
I think I'm afraid of what waits for me there
I know that I'm here yet it feels like nowhere.

I walk down the street I feel so alone
Just a lost soul in search of a home
I turn the corner hoping it is better ahead
I see some more opposites, it goes to my head.

I see so much beauty wrapped in so much pain
That's okay because it looks like it shall rain
The clouds blot out the sun from the sky
Stopping the rays of happiness before they can go by.

I stop and I sit down in need of a rest
I drift to thoughts of you my emotions crest
I drop to my knees I think I should pray
I just should be thankful to be here today.
