Poisonous Hearts

I listened closely
Her silence answered
Her lips moved slowly
She was my cancer

I kept my distance
Her hate pursued me
She lacked existence
It still consumed me

I dreamt of angels
I dreamt of demons
Their wars endangered
They burnt my feelings

I slept in murder
I woke to sorrow
But then I heard you
Your heart I borrowed

I listen closely
Your silence answers
Your lips move slowly
I am your cancer
