Poinsettia Symbols

The poinsettia shape reminds us of the Star of Bethlehem Which led the wise men to a manger with gifts for Him, And the brilliant red of the Christmas flower symbolizes The shed blood of Jesus Christ which every Christian prizes Reminding us that Jesus the Messiah’s birth, is the reason, The red and green come to us during the Christmas season.

On years gone past when I used to go on my holidays abroad for my Christmas and New Year, whatever decorations these countries lacked for Christmas, a poinsettia they did not, a lovely poem of a poinsettia's place upon this earth and what it has become to represent . . .

I always buy a Poinsettia at Christmas. I like the flower for its vibrant complementary colours. I like it even more now since reading your interesting poem,

Thanks, Shirley. Keep buying them. And, yes, they are so beautiful at Christmas.

Yes, indeed. In many places it is known as the Christmas flower.

I will never look at a poinsettia the same way again; all I knew about them is that they are poisonous to pets! Thank you!

You're very welcome, Caren. Aren't you tired of reading my drivel, by now? You must have had some time on your hands. OTOH, I really appreciate you!

You wrote about the meaning of the flower perfectly It is my favorite Christmas flower. Normally they don't survive but I have one from last year. Alas I have little light so the leaves remained green.

Victor, I need to put together all of the things people have told me about how to keep them alive, and maybe I could keep one over from one Christmas to another.
