Poet's Daffodil

At the crystal lake where Narcissus once gazed at his reflection stands a handsome flower with a white silken face and golden eye. I can hear Echo’s voice on the wind which wails forlornly. *Poet's Daffodil’s bright yellow eye watches me intently. Pen in hand - pondering how vanity left beauty in its stead - I sit and now start writing as the flower nods approval. Written Feb. 28, 2012 for Francine Robert's *****willows or daffodils Poetry Contest *Poet's Daffodil is Narcissus poeticus, one of the first daffodils to be cultivated. It is associated with the Greek legend of Narcissus.

An excellent poem Andrea. As to scary movies my brothers and friends used to scare me at drive ins. They would sneak up to the car and on a scary part knock and make a face in the window. Maybe that is why I don't like scary movies. eh? love phyl

What a lovely portarait of yor day by the lake and I like the way you called the poet "Daffodil." Great analogy for the inspiration we receive from nature. Best wishes in Francine's contes, Andrea. Love, Carolyn
