People who write poetry Are not so hard to find You'll find them writing anything And they'll try to blow your mind They'll write about true love Or some truly hateful news They'll write about the way they walk Or how they tie their shoes They'll write about the red hot sun Or write about the stars They'll write about the man in the moon Or our future life on mars They'll write about their children Or someone who just gave birth They'll write about the many wars Or write for peace on earth They'll write about politics Or the presidents, kings and queens They'll write about their dye-tie shirts Or their wholly denim jeans They'll write about nature Or haiku at it's best They'll write a song of lyrics Or a sonnet with some zest They'll write a catchy limerick Or a verse about their life They'll write about their fiancé Or their soon to be new wife Poets will write anything And their not so hard to find So keep on writing poetry people And try to blow my mind For the People Poetry Contest Sponsored by Richard Lamoureux 6/5/2018 Sharing 1st place honors (6-10-2018) with Jim Slaughter and his wonderful poem "Ordinary People" Congratulations Jim!
