Poetry contests

we have been asked to police
contest entries for plagiarism
relying on unproven software
sponsors are expected to comply
to make judging somewhat fair

perhaps we need to introspect
why are contests floated at all
is it not to cajole poets to connect
sharing hearts musings intimate
that all be in their ink bliss flecked

is our story merely borrowed glory
how low has fallen our self-esteem
let’s be authentic, honest and bold
we each are unique in our own way
effuse soul’s emotes in hues of gold

Well said, Seeker! Quality artistic endeavors take time, a willingness to leave part of ourselves in our work, truly a golden treasure to be cherished, celebrated and savored! Thank you for this poem! Sending you many blessings!

Thank you, Sam dear. You’ve said what my poem left unsaid, masterfully eloquent as always.

humans can be lazy and self-serving, without conscience, let us not forget jealous of those who put in the time and aspire to get better as writers and poets

You can easily detect AI poems. They repeat words ad nauseam.

Is that so? It seems team PS itself acknowledges that the programs to detect it are flawed. Anyway, the poin5 is, why use AI at all? We may fool others but we cannot fool ourself.
