Poetry and Me
Poetry and me is a three headed being
A hobby, a habit, and a hallowed thing
Sometimes it is one and sometimes another
When one doesn't work, why then it's the other
I have a small blackboard somewhere in my head
Neurons write on it after I am in bed
I read it each morning as I awaken
It tells me each day the path to be taken
Whichever it is as the day is to start
The only thing sure is that it gladdens my heart
So whether it is Muse or brainwaves I hear
I write with a fervor that says I'm still here
