Poetic Connections
Some 25 or more years ago, a fellow parishioner connected with me
by gifting me with a can of coffee. Ten years ago, my first posting
on Poetry Soup was entitled "A Can of Coffee" which was about
my new found friend.
There was once a poet who welcomed me into this community
of online poets. Not long afterwards, that poet said goodbye
to the entire poet community which included me. It's been
10 years since I heard from that poet via poems posted on
the website. Perhaps the parting was meant to be, but there
is no way to know.
What I do know is that, at a major intersection, in the crossroad
of my life, a poet connected with me with words of kindness.
As a result, my life has been greatly enriched since joining the
community. Words of welcome were given that emboldened
and embraced me with courage and inspiration to go forward
with my embryotic poetic pursuit.
In conclusion, please allow me to remind my fellow 'Soupers'
that writing poems is much more enriching and priceless as
we touch and edify each other with the kind of kindness that
I have experienced. And may I always give back far more than
I have received. Coffee, parishioner, poetic connections. Who knew?
