Playing With Words Under Fire
Playing with words under fire
While playing with words under fire
Sometimes it seems you get burned
Choosing the verbs to inspire
Tossing out nouns that you learned
Flames filled with passion start glowing
Careful that you don’t offend
Found in the verses you’re showing
What is the message you send
Feeling the heat of the season
Striking a match in the cold
Make sure you pick the right reason
So they will know what is told
Embers of orange and yellow
Sit in a pile in your line
Harsh often turns out quite mellow
Everything seems to be fine
Ink from your pen quickly searing
Dripping like wax from a wick
There will be some who are cheering
Any old topic you pick
But there are times you have written
Thoughts of your every desire
Hurting the one you are smitten
While playing with words under fire
