Players Not Spectators

The myths of innocence & simplicity hide beneath a mask of fraility within youthful pleasures of times long past human desire forever heads the cast; What seemed simple then,is just relative through rose-tinted spectacles,we forgive, forget so easily life's reality, vulnerable, alone in our self-pity; Circumstance has moved on,we have stayed transfixed by myths, our memories frayed; twenty-four hours, still was then, a day but different complications held sway. Our times change, yet inside we remain the same as players, not spectators in the game Year Posted 2010

Times were different then, as we were young.. but the years tend to slow us down like a car growing with age..

Read a few times. Great nuggets inside your rhyme. Great opening line, Brian!

Your 11 year old poem speaks relevance to me and many of my poems Brian. Despite the past being a foreign country (they do things differently there) I still think I'm 26 and not 59. Perhaps I'm growing down - or just standing still? Perhaps, with our whole lives in front of us back then our naivety drove us on. Knowing the rules is not always a good thing. Cheers - Gary
