Play Me a Song
Play me a song 'bout that sweet talkin' gal-
The one 'bout the love that's always been true.
I think they all called her red headed Sal,
And she loved her man as everyone knew.
I'll drink my cold beer 'til the sun goes down,
And then I'll change to somethin' more fittin'.
Keep playin' that love song around and ‘round-
I ain't movin', just gonna be sittin'.
She said that I was her only cowboy,
And that she'd love me 'til the very end.
Then I heard about Ed and Sam and Roy,
And figgered that it was the end my friend.
So I rode my hoss to the nearest bar
To drown my sorrows like everyone does.
It just don't seem to be workin' so far,
I keep seein' her the way that she was.
Keep playin' that song 'bout red headed Sal
I'll try to recall that I'm a cowboy.
I need to think of a sweet talkin' gal,
And forget about Ed and Sam and Roy.
