Platonic Spirituality

Platonic Spirituality
by Lori Maria Walton

Waves splash upon my mind
Desires flee away with molecular miles
Creating a peace of platonic vastness
For only One can satisfy

That is you, above earthly matters,
The One worthy of an early morning kiss
The One whose love never ends
Who never tires of hearing me call

How shall I begin my day
Without crying to you for help
Without asking for your mercy
And waiting for your loving arms to surround

Where shall I go on this earth
Without seeing your might and wonder
Without feeling your compelling love
Requesting that I join your family

Others may disappoint
But your love is never ending
New each morning
And always anticipating my response

Gift upon gifts enter my eyes
Leaving me with nothing to want
You bring me the flower
The dove and the child

To comfort my eyes, soothe my parched tongue
And keep my ears at peace
Among the chaos of the social realm
Where will I find such a love?
