Listen to poem:

Planting

Planting
David J Walker

Today I forget
The snow and ice that
Seemed to last for the
entire forever of my youth
I am taller
Winter smaller now
That I am older
While the long gray afternoons
Grow grayer and stay longer
And I wonder
If I have found the truth
I was expecting before planting
In the warm soil of the
Next spring
