Place Your Bets

Is it loss to lose your child

To the world of adulthood?

Or is it a gift so precious

Made in love when all was good?

Is it worth loving someone

If in the end the End will take?

Or do I love in good faith

If only for love's sake?

Should I fear the future

And it's fickle wheel of chance?

Or should I just enjoy the game

And to it's rhythms dance?

Everything is changing

nothing stays the same.

The stakes are high

Winners may lose

In this cruel, amazing game.

I will choose to recognise

That I have many parts

Most importantly of all

A place in loved ones' hearts.
