Place of Desolation

The place of desolation, like the mirage in the desert You see it, but never arrive Until the day of your departure, and the mirage has arrived for you A comfort lost on desperation nothing left to help me cope I disembark from the last train, onto the last platform I have no luggage to claim, or goodbyes to stammer out No hello's or greetings either A painful prognosis, no chance for osmosis, I am here The place of desolation There's no turning back, the train pulls away, and a dirty poof of black smoke signals the end I stand alone, not waiting, or hoping, just standing Dark filthy walls glare down, unkempt walkways covered with eons of dust and grime No maintenance crew or caretakers needed here, this place of desolation It will all crumble to dust, as will I, and every dream of my heart, too No more time to worry, for time has arrived, right on time for me The last stop No feigning joy or happiness here, they departed with the last train Death and I are here to meet No fanfare It is done Forever Alone

Your words of superb imagery and emotion gently take the reader to a private place in your heart and we feel your hurt. Your have a gift in telling a story that lets the reader feel the emotions unfolding before them. #7

Hi Emile, I truly value your insight and review; and hold you in high esteem. Your remarks today have revealed to me the hidden meaning of this write. I was diagnosed with terminal cancer in my 30's. I lived with the fear of death for several years. Thus 'the place of desolation as a mirage' was that dark cloud that I carried. I have survived for 19 years!! Thank you, Emile. Hugs xx

Hi Richard! I am attempting to capture that 'moment' of desolation that human emotions may experience when death is met. The picture that I am painting is somewhat of an allegory for that moment; right before the truth is revealed and the soul is freed from the body, if that makes sense. An enlargement of that moment. It was a challenging subject to broach. I welcome your feedback. Thank you :)
