Pity

He is like a yo-yo, bouncing to
Extremes; elastic thoughts
That rise and fall, determined
To avail of reason or anything
That stops the sway of will.

Indignation rules his day and
Free falls through like shards
Of glass; ripping his inside.

In whom can he confide?

The monster in his mind
Has bred more demons there
To feed; on avarice and envy
On pity and on need!

Who can face this mindset down
When torment rules the murk?
Pain that does its puerile work
And wrenches up this sorry clown!

A very moody soul, usually that is how pitiful peopel are. Yes, I know this type. You describe them well, David! (are you an accountant? I think if one were good with numbers, it could be a great job!)

He is not the only one he needs to know. Most people go through ups and downs, times of absolute clarity and times of confusion, not sure where to turn. Is the work of invisible monsters? Could be, but no one likes to be a pone, therefore the ups and downs, trying to be free. We have to keep on going, us all clowns. Thought provoking write, David. Thanks for sharing. Best, Caroline.
