Pitter Patter On the Floor
I still hear the pitter patter on the floor
Of you running to see me over by the door
Whenever I came home, I'm so sad that you have grown
I still hear the pitter patter on the floor
I still hear you calling out my name
Daddy can you help me once again
I wrecked my bike, and skinned my knee, daddy could you help me please.
I still hear you calling out my name
I still hold your hand as we walk
Missing all the questions and our talks
You'd take my hand to tuck you in, you'll always be my little man
I still hold your hand as we walk
I wish I could take the pain away
When your first love turned and walked away
It's a lesson that we all go through, but son please know that I love you
I wish I could take the pain away
I hope that I'm more than just your dad
And all those times I know I've made you mad
Were lessons that you'll thank me for, the day that you walk out the door
I hope that I'm more than just your dad
I hope happiness is all you know
From a young boy to a man you have grown
As you take her hand and start a life, respect her, love her, do what's right
I hope happiness is all you know
I pray your blessed with a son of your own
So you can feel love that I have known
Pass on to him what I've taught you before your time on earth is through
I pray your blessed with a son of your own
Son your hero is turning old and gray
I still think about you every single day
We don't talk as much as I'd like too but son still known that I love you
Your hero is turning old and gray
I'll still love till my dying day
