Religion is the death of God conscripting Him away Cloaked in false propriety enlightenment at bay Religion is the death of God scriptures to mislead All piety a false disguise worshipping the creed Religion is the death of God whose armies rage and burn Killing in the name of One —whose love they claim to yearn (The New Room: December, 2023)

So it appears that the voice of this poem does believe in God. Churches have done a lot to water down belief. Many church goers want personal exaltation. Church is OK, it just needs to be brought up to the current times. Your poem is edgy and gives me a lot to think about, as seen above.

Thanks Hilda, I was a Philosophy / Theology major thru graduate school. I taught both to undergraduates back in the early seventies. In spite of the impression I may have given, I am a devout non-dogmatic believer. I believe that (Like Jesus, Buddha, Mohammed and Crazy Horse) we all have the ability to become Divine. Uncovering that great mystery, which resides deeply inside all of us, is the true purpose of life. All of the examples I mentioned achieved Divinity without a dogmatic approach, speaking from their hearts and thru their actions. Kurt
