Pieces

All the things I have wanted to say are running through my mind all day. Insightful wit, touching words, Ever hopeful they'll all soon be heard. I dread the infinite space between the points in time when you'll be seen. Because messages sent can only buy some solace from not seeing your eyes. The same direction, but a different road, so how much of me can really be shown. As passers by we can only spare tiny pieces of all we could share. Not soon enough the time may be when the roads will cross for you and me But in the blink of an eye we'll be off again, and I'll hold on to the pieces of all that was said. All the while, I know nothing can be done to stop the setting of this borrowed sun. I'm the snow covered tree in the morning light, absorbing your warmth until day yields to night. So I'll give you my pieces, all I can spare. To ask the same of you just doesn't seem fair. On our way again to that infinite space, sustenance received by your departing embrace.
