Pieces
The return unseen, strangers to a home
Pieces fit so snugly, unsettling to think
Attempts at resistance, delayed responses
Hate clouds, above love's umbrella
The echoes reveal, intention was real.
Little things hidden, repercussions severe
The burns felt, as friction and skin tussled
A will defeated, for an item of insignificance
Words to a child, don't tell a soul
Reasons composed, though none that could justify.
Missing for a short period, reports laid
Safety secondary, to tempers flare
A call of reassurance, met with obscenities so cold
Capsules consumed, a corpse can not be scolded
Knowledge of occurrence, shrugged off as a norm.
Lines on an arm, scars unhidden
Acknowledged a decade ago, never a cause for concern
A cry out for help, psychology would teach later
Youth remembered, through excitement's diminishment
Condemned to guilt, rarely ever seeing cause.
The blade recalled, as overwhelming as the day
Life threatened by a spouse, beheld by an innocent
Replicated in some senses, harm never considered
"Fight me like a man," said a man to a boy
Leave the past behind, says someone who has never died.
