Pictures, Photographs

Pictures, Photographs
what do they tell?
Stories maybe
        … they seem so far
there’s your baby
my first car

Flat and shinny, old and square
Photograph a past affair

so familiar, not the truth

that wasn’t me!
That’s not my youth!

funeral wake, the past and gone
their body there
     … but who can say
a lonely room
a hollow grave

cold and empty, white and pale
photograph it, just as well
