Pictures On a Table

Pictures On A Table By Robert E. Welch, Sr. September 27, 2020 There were pictures on a table And others on the wall. Each one told a story As I walked on down the hall. The pictures were of happy times Of things that he had done. The smile that he always had Was brighter than the sun. But now the family’s gathered And all were shedding tears. They had come to say good-bye To one so young in years. Yes, there were pictures on a table Each held a memory. Of a life that was so promising And of a soul that’s now set free. Time goes on and heals the heart But even if you’re unable Remember all the love and times Of the pictures on the table.

Great write, touching and sad. I like the flow, the rhymes and the repeated line.

I wrote this poem after watching a video presentation at the funeral of my young nephew.
