Picture Perfect

How is a rainbow formed? Can you explain where the colors come from? Why they fade away? Next time the rain brings one into view, won’t you pull it from the sky for me? Travel to the moon and send me back a piece Give me a moment alone with the sunshine if you can I want to be able to hold it in my arms Feeling the warm rays upon my face Can I keep a jar of it? I will keep it by my bedside in remembrance Have you traveled to space yet? Do you mind bringing back a star? Never mind if it’s the brightest As long as it comes with a “to me” “from you” note I can’t wait to feel its edges and points How blue is the sky on the way back down? Would it be too much to scoop up a cloud? I hope it’s fluffy so I can float about on it I wonder how white a handful of it would be Is the ocean as blue and cold as they say? Does the salt complement the sunset at the edge? I can only imagine where it begins and where it ends Do you think you could find me a grain of sand? Perhaps an oyster from the ocean floor too Together they could create a pearl, or better yet…a memory Did you make it to the mountaintop? Did you pierce the cap with your waving spear? I’ve always wondered if the snow packs up there If so, it’d be nice if you could build a snowman, with a carrot nose and stick arms Maybe possibly a top hat and a striped scarf It would make me happy to see a raisin smile upon its face Are you just beginning your journey through the forest? Have you seen a big foot yet? I bet there are a lot of fallen trees and branches covering the ground I’m sure there’s a clearing up ahead A perfect spot for a log cabin It doesn’t matter if it’s big Only that it came from your two hands I hear you’re halfway in the jungle now Must be frightening with the tigers and snakes Do you think you’ll come upon a bouquet of exotic flowers? I’d like if you could bring back the seeds I can plant a garden of wild flowers of my own Don’t worry that they might not grow The soil will be rich and the seeds watered daily
