Photograph

I sat down next to a photograph
Black and white in a simple frame
Just a simple picture really
But the expression nowhere near the same

It belonged to a young girl
On her wedding day
A smile with passion and promise
A confidence that remained dis-swayed

Her eyes were full of light
And hope for what lies ahead
A new, exciting, happier life
Not a semblance of dread

Its amazing how just a picture
Can say so much at a glance
Today I sat next to a photograph
And I'm glad I had that chance.
