Perspective
“When I was young”
The old man said,
“Things were done
That I’d often dread.”
“Now that I’ve amassed
A number of years.
Those earlier tasks
Bring a few tears.”
“Now for sorrow
Do I weep.
Promises for tomorrow,
Can I keep?”
“Did I boast
About that distant?
Did I perhaps
Seem too persistent?”
“Perhaps I did bite
More than I could chew.
I thought it right
To thus pursue.”
