Performance over presence the song

some attend church with no godly intent 
they see the worship service as a red carpet event 
decked out in their finest from head to toe 
preening like they're stars in a Hollywood show 

performance over presence 
what many fail to understand 
Is that we're here to praise Jesus
the Son of Man 

the worship service is about giving God reverence 
It's not a live show requiring a stage presence
many have no concept of what praising God 
is all about 
they would've been the ones 
that caused the stones to cry out

the Son of Man 

acknowledging God is about submitting 
your will and your life 
and understanding your divine purpose 
is to acquiesce to  Christ 
It's about spiritually comprehending 
that you're now spiritually transcending

Is that we're re here to praise Jesus
the Son of Man

to discover and now discern 
that there's a freedom in Christ. 
what true worshipers have learned

what many now understand 
Is that we're here to give praise to Jesus, 
the Son of Man 

now with an ability to see 
how to live spiritually free
