People Watching

An airport is the perfect place To look at people; every face Is worth a glance and then, as well, Their clothes and shoes, to try to tell Where they are from, since likely they Don't realize they are in display. Their voices may provide a clue But I prefer a silent view, Imagining the varied lives Of friends and loners, husbands, wives. It may seem impolite to gawk But that's expected in New Yawk!

haha, loved how you used that accent at the end!! I guess I don't do much people watching but if anyone is watching ME, they are probably thinking" what is this weirdo doing at the airport scribbling on sheets of paper?"

Certainly one of a poet's necessary occupations is people watching! That habit/predilection is the prime indicator of an abiding interest in humans and humanity, and it provides the "material", through careful observation and empathetic identification, for expressing our common characteristics and aspirations. Keep on watching; and, of course, keep on writing about what/who/all you see. Thank you for the little treat.

sometimes people watching helps pass the time....to walk a mile in ones shoes is when we would understand them most, but we can guess as time allows.... enjoyed this poem and even giggled at your ending :)
