People of the morning
Wake to greet the rising sun
Take some time to ponder
Before the day’s begun
Pause to be thankful
For yet another day
Take time to appreciate
God’s blessings along the way
To pray for strength and guidance
For tasks that lie ahead
To remember needs of the living
And promises of the dead
As the sun begins to rise
Ready to journey on
Thankful for another chance
To spread joy and kindness too
In a world sometimes crying
From the very depths of pain
At how some folks are treated
While others just seek gain
O God of the morning,
Hear our humble prayer
Bless us as this day begins
Show us how much You care
Though the road is rocky
Spare us from despair
