People of the Forest

Deeply rooted
in the earth,
ancestral ground of nature.

Seeds pregnant with life
burst, veins disperse.
Small vines clothe towering tree,
offspring seek refuge.

Daisies dazzle in the daylight,
Like trees strive toward the sun,
reaching for the sky with arm like branches.
Unique plant ethnicities,
identical pursuits.

A fiery Cardinal perched.
Beneath, Squirrels gather
nourishing tree offerings.

Working cohesively in harmony,
utopian democracy.
Yet overlooked.

Living history.
Products of the dirt,
Fed by the sun and rain.
Reaching for the stars.

Just like us.
