Penguin Parents

Two penguin parents and their chick
Are bringing people ‘round
To ogle at their lifestyle
And the happiness they’ve found.

Australians are delighted
At the airing of this tale
For the parents, Sphen and Magic,
Are both penguins who are male.

Their obvious affection
Led their keepers to decide
To entrust them with an egg
Neglectful parents did provide.

They built a nest and alternated
Sitting ‘til it hatched,
Each spending near a month, a time
No other penguins matched.

Though humans often battle
Over whether gays should wed,
They should look to Sphen and Magic,
Seeing what their love has bred.

I am fascinated and delighted to hear of this because I do not like it when people say that gays should not be allowed to adopt children. that is such nonsense. They would prefer children in the state places just be sitting around with no love and attention at all?? When gays, like other people, are able to provide a loving home to unwanted children? Love his,Ilene. (I saw a documentary once that discussed a gay penguin. That poor guy never found his mate)

First I've heard of this, Ilene! Had no idea Mother Nature was so generous. In the wild that neglected egg would have either perished or been eaten. Now it has a life. / M
