Pen Chants
The pen peeks into the darkness
whispers a gentle "come hither"
release me from dormant bondage
lift up the dreams of idle wings
guide me through the joys of living
hold me amidst life's cold despair
share with me the swirling snowflakes
walk with me through spring's cool rains
comfort me amid summer's warmth
dance with me in fall's fulfillment
roll my thinly veiled excitement
across the naked waiting page
follow me and I will lead you
through the darkness to the light
I will be your sword and buckler
if you will pick me up and write
