Peace Within the Valley

There was peace within the valley,
And within the little church--
The white one with the steeple
Standing by the row of Birch.

And the people, few in number
Lord, they sure knew how to sing--
There was peace within the valley
With the Millhouse and the spring.

Like heaven was the meadow
Where the wild flowers grew--
There was peace within the valley
And a brooklet passing through.

Then the congregation gathered,
Offering a quiet prayer--
There was peace within the valley,
For the Lord, Himself, was there.

Thank you Faye, I'm honored. Being new here, I'm trying to read everybody's stuff and to comment. Takes time though, as I'm sure you're aware, which makes your visit and comment all the more special. Thank you again, as I look forward to reading your poems. Have a great weekend. Blessings, mel :)

Peace washed over me as I read this lovely piece. I do believe inspiration comes from God. I would not give the credit to imaginary muse. It is always best to go to the source of everything and your pen will never dry up.

Great advice, my friend--my Canadian friend :) I believe this was an inspired poem; came to me like, well, like a vision. I can see this valley, clearly, in detail and in living color. Amazing what the mind conceives! Wish you could see it, but I'll bet you can. Thanks for the needed encouragement, Richard, and have a nice weekend. Blessings, mel :)

AiyaH, you are too kind--but I'll take it :) That valley exists in some demension, and it is peaceful, calm and serene. It's beautiful--sunny and green, a knee-deep meadow, a swimming hole, a field of wild flowers and the most friendly, unpretencious people. Why don't we go there some Sunday and sing, and pray--and take a swim! C-ya soon. Peace. ;)
