As you make your bed, so you lie in it She walks down the street ignoring people She sees for her need alone She does all the listening and talking alone “They are not gift of god, they are burden” she said “I earn my keep, so earn yours” she told them Day of reckoning came She can’t earn her keep but gift of God can earn theirs “Have mercy on your old mama” she said “We can earn our keep, earn yours” they said Now a victim of her own plans Are they wicked? As she made her bed so she lay in it “We are hungry! “I don’t have money” “He” is putting on an expensive cloth “We” are haggard “He” drove out and entered a restaurant “Stupid children” he thought “not even mine” Years later, “we” grow and “he” has eaten away his youths “I was kind enough to take you in “he said” “Thanks” we said “but we don’t have money Are they wicked? As he made his bed so he lay in it
