Paul
Changing my paces, I'm changing my style
Things that went quicker now take me a while
But I try to accept with a wink and a smile
That I'll go on believing in time
Taken aback by these current events
The pills that I've tried and the money I've spent
But still I'm enjoying the life I've been lent
And I go on believing in time
Time to reach out and make my amends
So many phone calls, and letters to send
Time to get better, stay here with my friends
Or see this thing through to the end
Doctors and specialists searching for cures
Cure one infection, there's so many more
But someday they'll find it, they think that they're sure
So I go on believing in time
Counting the days, sweating the nights
Wishing for chances to get things just right
I wish that I may and I wish that I might
Just go on believing in time
Time to reach out and make my amends
So many phone calls, and letters to send
Time to get better, stay here with my friends
Or see this thing through to the end
Now the carriage is coming, it's well on its way
How close has it come? Maybe weeks, maybe days
How strange now to realize I'm fading away
That this is the end of the line
Will they bury or burn me, and what will I wear?
Is it right? Is it wrong? Doesn't matter, don't care
Just make me a promise, to say a small prayer
And to go on believing in time.
