Past Is the Past
by Michael J Falotico
We called it the end before the page was turned..
You can't write me as a hero on pages that we burned..
I became an afterthought like a fast moving breeze..
Sent away like a unwanted gift, still I left with ease..
Fault was handed out like confetti in a parade..
It landed where it wanted to with a destination made..
Our breath was the same, now I exhale all the pain..
Once a knight that rode in and saved your day..
Now just a memory and a faded wave..
We learned a lesson not taught in school..
The game of love has many rules..
Which is why the past is the past.
Because life goes way to fast..
