Paradise Cove
Long ago the moon glowed
In hues of blue, and the wind
Whispered in innocent sighs
As flowers bloomed in chameleon fields
Across the way from Paradise Cove.
The swells rolled in, salty-sweet
With a sandy carpet where my
Feet tread lightly on
Emerald leaves and jeweled shells,
As I breathed in the briny air.
Gentle rains tapped on the chapel
As we knelt to pray, while the church bell
chimed lofty tunes into the breeze,
Brushing the clouds where the notes
Would pause, then sway over copen hills.
Though my youth has faded into years,
I can still hear the hymns we sang.
Somewhere they are sleeping,
Somewhere they lay their heads to rest
In the lap of Paradise Cove.
