Paper Trails
Send the kids off to school,
is it just a memory? or a forgotten hole in time.
All these years on...
I still wave good-bye.
We want so much for others,
yet so little for ourselves.
Forget to tidy our own room..
wipe the dust away
from the shelves.
Just today, as the dust settled,
another forgotten hole in time..
one with a gift-wrapped box
that contained within
a tie.
Times don't change,
people change.
My hope for our journey
that we've learned to behave.
Forgive those that strayed for a moment
from the path.
It was theirs, not yours
and be thankful we ought too.
If ever there was one wish I could grant,
t'would be a Happy Father's Day for you.
