Paper Dreams

Cut to pieces like paper dreams
With only confetti left behind
I tried taping back the tattered seams
But there's too many pieces to find

Cast in the wind, like fallen leaves
I know not where they lie
Just a prisoner of the cool summers breeze
Caught like a kite in the sky

Tossing and turning, I've lost my way
Reprobate to all that I see
No difference, between the night and the day
I no longer recognize me

The mirror can't hold my reflection
It no longer knows who I am
Wandering through life with no sure direction
Lost, like a runaway lamb

Paper dreams, tattered and torn
Pieces of who I've become
Don't weep for me and no longer mourn
For death has finally come
