Pancakes

There's a fire in my heart -
that always Burns for more.
More than all my failures -
...missing how things were before.

Someday things must get better -
with all the work that I have done.
Laughter from the backyard -
watching all of you have fun!

Pancakes made for breakfast -
while we're still in our pajamas.
Leaving pain behind -
for we have healed from all our traumas.

No more teary nights -
as we look up at the Moon.
No longer far away -
(Good God) I pray that day comes soon.

We'd finally have each other -
I'd get to love you each up close.
I'd greet you every morning -
with a kiss upon your nose.

I felt like giving up at times-
when it seems my wheels are spinning.
(But) no matter how beat up I get -
this fire's always burning.

I've tried to throw my hope away -
for it feels it's only hurt me.
More failure after failure -
all I've wanted is to break free.

Break free from all the cycles -
that have chained me in this sadness.
Insanity at best -
can't ever seem to rid this madness.

I think I'm getting closer -
there's no way to know for sure though.
For each time that I take a step -
I sometimes fall and stumble.

Below the bar that's set for me -
can't seem to get it right.
(But despite) that I feel weak sometimes -
I still get up and fight.

I don't know how I do it -
if I'm honest and I'm true.
But I'm grateful for my fire -
for it will lead me back to you!

Love,
Mommy
