Palms Up
. for public domain
We are, our memories,
flesh and blood,
matrimonial plans and parenthood;
and all desires
that come to naught,
times at peace and battles fought.
Now, looking back
throughout the years,
of joy outlasting dried up tears,
I recommend,
despite all strife
and suffering, live a life.
And when we breathe
the midnight air,
whether wind be foul or fair,
shake a fist,
(or if we dare),
raise our palms up high in prayer.
